Methode’s magnetoelastic torque sensors can turn a regular drive shaft or axle shaft into an intelligent measurement system. Thanks to its robustness, our sensors can survive the most extreme automotive environments and temperatures. Due to a fully contactless measurement, there is no need to attach anything to the shaft, such as telemetry, which introduces a rotating mass. Once the sensor shaft has been magnetically processed its calibration is permanent, meaning that over the sensor’s lifetime there is no need for recalibration. The sensor is not influenced by shocks, vibration or extremely high load cycles. Methode has proven through in-vehicle testing that even after 480,000 miles, the sensor performance will not drift more than ± 1%.
