Wind Power Torque Sensors

Wind power stations can experience high and erratic wind conditions which can cause high forces on the internal mechanisms in the rotor blades, gearboxes and yaw drives. Methode’s magnetoelastic torque sensors can be used to detect the forces exerted through the wind turbine system and allow for continuous condition monitoring, predictive maintenance and overload protection. This allows for more accurate service scheduling as well as longer life of costly components. Similarly the torque readings can also be used to monitor wind strength and speed to optimize the performance and efficiency of the system.
